Little Barn Door loves Sophie Scott!

We love to be able to support small businesses and one of our favourite local artists is Sophie Scott.

Sophie is a Scot, born in Glasgow. After doing a Law degree, Sophie moved to the south coast in order to go sailing and never left.

Sophie has two little kids and after working in the marine industry for 15 years, she needed more flexibility as a mum and so decided to work for herself and go back to her main passion, art.

“Hobbies wise, I am a sailor born and bred although I don't get out sailing that often thesedays. My main sports lately are road biking and wing foiling with my girl friends.”

Sophie started her business by first making prints for Christmas presents for her family, of beaches on the Scottish island of Tiree, their holiday destination. She explained to us that Tiree locals took an interest and then it went from there.

The surf school on the island started stocking them and then friends down south asked for the River Hamble so she did a south coast range.

Sophie loves working from home and building relationships with the shops who supply her work and the customers who order regularly.

“I love modern artworks and clean lines, so the railway style prints appeal to me. I design them on my ipad pro and then have them professionally printed at a high quality.”

“I try to keep the prices low, so that they are suitable prices for people to give them as gifts. I feel so lucky to do what I do. I also do artwork for childrens bedrooms and playrooms - the animal prints is a range I would like to extend as they look great in a set.”
