Blitzing your bathroom with Faye

Bathrooms can often get forgotten about when it comes to house viewings. Although potential buyers may not spend a lot of time in these spaces, it's still very important to clean and stage where possible.

This can be as simple as just removing all unwanted toiletries. Believe it or not some viewers can become fixated on the branding of toiletries, as well as them being somewhat of an eye sore!

Our number 1 top tip is to purchase a few storage boxes and have one designated for all bathroom items. This can be stored away on viewings but can be easily assessed in between. Once these are out of the way there is your blank canvas to work with.

Keep out or invest in items such as plain soap dispensers, simple candles and artificial plants or small succulents.

Take note

Be aware of how small your bathroom is and not over doing it with extra decorative pieces.

Before viewings open windows to air the bathroom out, no viewer wants to step into a steamy bathroom. It's also a good idea to use an air freshener designed for bathrooms to keep the smell clean and neutral.

If you have multiple bathrooms/en suites then get your children on board too. Giving them an easy cleaning kit; with no harsh chemicals and just a few cloths and sponges, will save you a lot of time.

Faye’s 5 top tips on cleaning a bathroom are;

1.Work in a clockwise motion

Start with the bath/shower first and work in one clockwise direction.

2. Microfibre cloths will be your best friend

Use a dry microfibre e-cloth and go around the bathroom to remove any fingerprints, paying attention to high touch areas such as light switches, mirrors, glass, chrome etc.

3. Invest in white towels

A viewer won’t want to see wet dirty towels laying around. Ordering a spare set of white towels is a good idea to pull out on viewings.

Check out The Folding Lady and her top tips on how to fold or roll hand towels.

4. Mould build up

Mould is a nightmare for anyone! However if targeted quickly can be kept at bay. We recommend Astonish Mould and Mildew blaster spray.

5. Don’t forget smelly bathroom bins

This can be very off putting on viewings. Freshen the inside of your empty bin with bicarbonate of soda, then spray with disinfectant and wipe dry.
