Happy anniversary to the LBD Barn!
When I launched Little Barn Door in 2018, there was one thing that was missing….The Barn!
I had chosen a name based on my love for natural, farmhouse decor and the farm textures. As a farmer’s granddaughter this style always felt very reminiscent, hessian potato sacks and the orange twine on Grandad belt loops. The name was right from the outset.
“One day I will have a barn” is what I would always tell people, visualising a beautiful rustic space filled with furniture and accessories.
Whilst looking for office space, I made a call to a local business park. Without realising, I had called the owner of the business park’s house. “The only thing available at the moment is an old 17th century barn” he told me laughing, and that was that. I knew that the barn and I were destined to be together.
Just days after, I signed the lease to The Barn, making it the LBD HQ.
This was 12 months ago this week.
We immediately got to work, insulating and racking. But, the best part was working with the talented Luke from Haines Wood Revival to create rustic space dividers, desks and storage troughs.
People imagine a Barn HQ to be a flashy, barn conversion with swanky desks and a few rustic touches….but our’s really is not. What it is, is special. It’s raw and authentic. You can feel the hard work that has taken place there long before us and this is why for me, the barn is a true reflection of our Little Barn Door brand. We may create beautiful spaces, but at the core of it all we work hard to stage real homes for real people with real results.
Happy anniversary to our Barn - 1 year today, and what a year it has been!
A historic past….
Before becoming LBD HQ the barn had had many roles in farming life. A store for grains and even a winter residence for these 6 piglets.
The front and rear double doors will have been used for tractors and trainers to pass through with ease for grains to be collected and transported.
